In Panic, Cages Were Opened but fear won

It was just another morning at the shelter. Vandana Singh was treating one of the dogs when her cook rushed in, screaming,"Didi, aag lag gayi hai."They ran straight to the cages and started opening them one by one.

They barked, circled, and froze, trying to understand the situation, smoke, noise, and heat. Vandana Singh and her cook physically pushed the animals out, but fear made them do strange things. One by one, the terrified dogs turned back, running inside into the only place that had ever felt like home to them.

But unfortunately, their innocence took away their lives. 

They Escaped the Flames but Need a Home

Some dogs are in the hospital right now, being treated for burns. The rest have been brought to the founder's own home because there is nowhere else for them to go. But a home is not a shelter. It was never built to hold traumatized, injured animals who need space, medicine, and round-the-clock care. These dogs cannot stay here forever, and Vandana knows it.

Furry Foundation didn't start yesterday. They have spent years on the streets of Ghaziabad, picking them up, caring for them, healing them, and giving them a place to belong. Every single morning and evening,700 meals would go out, 1,400 meals a day,without fail, to the hungry and forgotten on the streets. They didn’t just rescue and care, but built a home for the voiceless. 

Today, that home is gone. The supplies are gone. And even those 1,400 daily meals have stopped. The dogs who survived are hungry, scared, and waiting for a place that can actually hold them again- a real shelter, where they can finally start healing again.

A Plea for Help

The fire took everything in a matter of hours: the shelter, the supplies, and many lives. What's left is “survivors, a founder, and a team” that refuses to give up. Vandana and her people are still showing up every single day, but they need your help to rebuild the shelter, treat the injured, feed the hungry, and give these dogs a real chance at life again.
